Well, this past year was a big year for us. We farrowed for the first time (instead of buying piglets), put up a grain bin, built several shelters, made hay, butchered chickens, gained a lot of experience rotating animals on pasture and sold everything we rasied! And, I did a MUCH better job maintaining my equipment. Which, has been one of my shames since my real job is basically a maintenance expert! Not to mention all the other projects and the work on this old farm house. Anyway, a lot to feel good about as winter approaches. Next year, as we plan out our activities, we're looking at raising more animals all the way around. We'll have three litters of pigs for piglets, feeders, roasters and pasture raised pork. We're even going to try to put them in the woods for a bit and see how that does on the animals and the land. This was a big learning year for us.  I got a lot of education working at a farm in Galax, Va - Larry and Debbie Bright.  I am going to write about my adventure there and post some pics too.  ...

Thank you to our customers this year.  We have sold the reminder of pork and turkeys we had left. We are officially sold out for the year.  Check with us for next year's harvest.  We have two more sows so, next year, there'll be more piglets, roasters and pork available.  We'll be doing more chickens too.  That was very popular for us and we raised twice as many as we intended to.  It was a great experience and now I'm off to build a "whizbang chicken plucker". Thanks again! ...

We have 2 sides of pork still available for our fall harvest.  We thought we were sold out for this year, but, due to my expert bookeeping practices, we still have one whole pig unaccounted for.  Yes, it's hard for me to believe I messed this up (I'm being sarchastic here, of course). Anyway, we have two more sides available and we should be butchering early November.  So, if you're interested in our delicious and healthy pasture raised pork, please contact us! A lot of folks may be unsure about buying that much meat at one time.  Well, one side of pork is about 75 -90 lbs of meat and will take up about a third of your conventional refrigerator/freezer (we're talking in the freezer, of course).  And, as a family of four, we go through about 1 1/2 sides of pork per year for ourselves. If you are still unsure about that large of a purchase, we have cuts available that we can sell individually or make up a package for you.  We guarantee you'll love our pasture raised pork and will be back for more.  Compared to commercially raised pork, our meats are much more colorful, tastier and ...

We are taking on a new animal this year: Grass-fed lamb!  We are very excited to learn this new stewardship.  Our neighbors down the road have raised lambs their entire lives and they've been just great with the whole thing.  ...
